Wonderful and Weirdest plants in Amazon rainforest

The Amazon rainforest is largest tropical forest in the world, containing some of the most biodiverse plant species.
The Amazon rainforest is home to as many as 80,000 plants species from which more than 40,000 species play a critical role in regulating global climate and water cycle.
Here is the list of some of the most wonderful and amazing plants of Amazon rainforest.

1. Giant Water Lilies (Victoria amazonica):-

These impressive Water Lilies have been seen in an Amazon River.
It's very large leaf surface,can grow up to 46cm. In diameter.
The leaves of this plant are so strong, they can support upto  136 kg.

2. Passion Fruit Flower (Passiflora) :-

It's a beautiful passion flower which is often seen in the Amazon rainforest.
The leaves of the flowers are used as pain reliever and sedatives, and fruit is used to treat cough.

3. Monkey Brush Vine :-


The interior part of Amazon rainforest contains the most exotic plants-- The Monkey Brush is one of them, it's bright red and yellow interior flowers are beautiful and amazing.

4. Banana Trees :-

Bananas are common in the Amazon rainforest.
It is 4th largest crop because an average Banana plant can grow up to 150 pieces of Banana fruits all at the same time.

5. Coffee Plants (Coffea) :-

Coffee Plant is one of the widespread plant in Amazon rainforest.
Typically Coffee Plants grow under the shade, hence the Amazonian forest environment is perfect for it.

6. Rubber Tree (Hevea brasiliensis) :-

The rubber tree considered as one of the most valuable plant for Amazonian indigenous people.
Plant is source of latex.

7. Heliconia :- 

This plant is known as "Hanging Lobster Claw" due to its shape, the Heliconia flower is most common flora in the Amazon.
Hummingbird rely on this plant for it's food and nesting and in return they acts as pollinators for this plant.

8. Cacao (Theobroma cacao) :-

The Amazon Rainforest is also the home to the plant where chocolate grows-- Cacao.
Theobroma means "Food for the God's".

9.Walking Plam :-

The walking Plam / Cashapora is an interesting plant , found in Amazon Rainforest.
The trees slowly walks from shade to sunlight using its trunk.

10. Acai Plam :

Plans are thought to be the most abundant plant in the Amazon Rainforest.
The palms are often harvested for their inner core, known as "Heart of Palm", which is used in different dishes.
This palm tree is often regarded as the "Super Fruit" , because it's very high nutrient contents.

11. Nepenthes (Pitcher plant) :-

 It's a carnivorous plant , that attract it's insect prey into its pitcher like foliage.
This plant is also called  "Monkey cup" .

12. Genlisea :-

Members of the genlisea family of carnivorous plants can also be found along the Amazon.
They grow in very wet environment.
These plants are also called "Corkscrew plant."
